Fourth-year students of the Nursing Department carried out a meaningful activity aimed at supporting public health within the scope of the Teaching in Nursing course practicum.
Under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Duru, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamide Zengin, Res. Asst. Şadiye Öztürk, Res. Asst. Ayşenur Karakuş, Res. Asst. Asiye Nur Ulusoy, and Res. Asst. İsmail Aykanat, educational sessions were delivered to students in 8 kindergartens and 8 primary schools across the province.
The training sessions addressed topics such as healthy nutrition, physical activity, adequate and regular sleep, personal hygiene, and healthy lifestyle habits. Age- and development-appropriate, enjoyable, and interactive methods were used. The sessions were supported by presentations, visual materials, question-and-answer activities, and practical demonstrations, ensuring active participation of the children.
Through these trainings, it was aimed to help children acquire healthy lifestyle behaviors at an early age, increase health awareness, and contribute to the prevention of avoidable health problems. In addition, it was intended for Nursing Department students to experience their educator role, improve their communication skills, and develop a sense of social responsibility.
