The Seminar on Combating Addiction Was Held

The event titled “Combating Addiction Seminar: Notice – Protect – Liberate”, organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences Dean’s Office Combating Addiction Committee, was held on December 4, 2025, at the ESOGÜ Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Fazıl Tekin Conference Hall. The seminar received great interest from students, with 169 participants attending.

As part of the event, three experts delivered informative presentations addressing different dimensions of addiction.
In the first session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Duru presented a comprehensive talk on smoking addiction, sharing current data, addiction mechanisms, and prevention strategies.

Following this, Specialist Dr. Gülizar Yakut discussed alcohol and substance addiction, providing essential insights into the addiction cycle, risk factors, and counseling processes.

In the final session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya Kök Eren gave a presentation on behavioral addictions, raising awareness about technology, internet, and gaming addictions, which are increasingly prevalent today.

After the presentations, students’ questions were answered, and the importance of raising awareness in combating addiction was emphasized.

    

     

  

   

🎗 Awareness Event Against Leukemia

Our Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department students organized a large-scale event on November 7, 2025, within the scope of the Nursing Education course, to raise awareness about leukemia.

Under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar DURU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamide ZENGİN, Res. Asst. Şadiye ÖZTÜRK, Res. Asst. Ayşenur KARAKUŞ, Res. Asst. Asiye Nur ULUSOY, and Res. Asst. İsmail AYKANAT, the students set up stands at eight different locations across the university, drawing attention to leukemia among students and staff.

As part of the event:

  • Orange ribbons were distributed as a symbol of awareness,

  • Informative materials about leukemia were shared,

  • Visitors expressed their thoughts and feelings on a white fabric panel,

  • Interactive conversations were held throughout the day, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis, awareness, and emotional support.

The stands were open all day at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Engineering (M2 and M3 Blocks), Faculty of Theology, School of Foreign Languages, and the Faculty of Science.

The event served as a meaningful example of how nursing students combine their professional knowledge and skills with a spirit of community service. Participants stated that the activity not only increased their knowledge about leukemia but also emphasized the importance of raising awareness.

  

       

     

    

    

          

 

Support for Public Health: ESOGÜ Faculty of Health Sciences Took Part in Public Health Week

Within the scope of Public Health Week organized by the Eskişehir Provincial Health Directorate, Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) Faculty of Health Sciences also took its place and made valuable contributions to public health.

Faculty members and students informed citizens with carefully prepared brochures on women’s health, pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. The information provided to mothers and expectant mothers at the stand attracted great interest. At the same time, free baby products were distributed to mothers, combining both educational and supportive activities.

The faculty’s efforts received full recognition from senior officials attending the event. Eskişehir Deputy Governor Mr. Oğuz Şenlik, Head of Public Health Services of the Provincial Health Directorate Dr. Babür Mimtaş, and Head of Public Hospital Services Op. Dr. Serkan Ceyhan visited the stand and received information from faculty representatives about the awareness activities carried out. The officials expressed their gratitude to the faculty members and students of ESOGÜ Faculty of Health Sciences for this participation, which stands as a fine example of university–public sector cooperation.

The Dean’s Office of the ESOGÜ Faculty of Health Sciences will continue to contribute to such events and public awareness activities aimed at improving community health.
